He'due south also chosen "Carmine the Aloof" due to his preference to working lonely. This occurs while Red is attacking a fleet of Marine battleships, with Aokiji and Smoker seemingly assisting him. Despite what is going on, Ruddy confirms that he'south working solitary. He then realizes that he has misplaced something.

The scene changes to the Straw Chapeau Pirates budgeted an "Isle of Promises", the island village of Transtown, with a companion, Pato. Pato, a pen that tin can go a tanuki, shows the power to create whatsoever object he writes on a leaf by creating a telescope. Pato, repaying the favor of existence "fished up" (and thus rescued) by the Straw Hats past bringing them to an island dubbed past Luffy as "having the scent of great adventures", intends to split with them on the island to run into someone. The Straw Hats split into groups to resupply, with Luffy going out on his ain. Nami tells him to rendezvous at the local inn.

While exploring, Luffy sees a adult female being harassed by thugs who expect payment for "protecting the island" despite never being requested to practise and so. Luffy intervenes and beats the thugs up. The woman, Yadoya, thanks Luffy and treats him to a meal at her inn, later which he naps in. Meanwhile, the other Straw Hats are kidnapped by faux versions of Sanji, Usopp, and Robin. Afterwards Luffy wakes, Pato hurriedly appears and relays what he just saw to Luffy, prompting him to rescue them. Earlier he goes, Yadoya agrees to forgo the bill for the inn if Luffy and his friends do a favor for her, which he promises.

The Punk Take chances dragon appears before Luffy.

Luffy and Pato travel to what appears to be Punk Run a risk, which Luffy vaguely remembers. He encounters and defeats the same dragon he and Zoro killed before, but it disappears before Luffy can eat it. After traversing through the fire and ice sides of the island, he and Pato encounter Caesar Clown. He engages them upon Smiley but is defeated. Pato so discovers Zoro and Franky before Luffy knocks Caesar abroad with Gomu Gomu no Grizzly Magnum. Zoro and Franky state they woke upward at that place afterward napping on the 1000 Sunny before Luffy states that they and the rest of the Straw Hats were kidnapped. Back at the inn, the iii of them are forced to make true on their hope to Yadoya; the improvement of their town by edifice establishments such every bit a local tavern. That evening, Redfield looks on equally a sandstorm brews.

The adjacent morning, the four of them set sail to an island that greatly resembles Arabasta. Upon landing, they are greeted past Crocodile who invites them to follow him if they want to find their friends. After going through Arabasta soldiers and Kung-Fu Dugongs, they find Chopper and Usopp fending off more soldiers. They reunite and relax in an empty Yuba Village, where Pato and Chopper (in his Horn Indicate) dig upward a well. Luffy jokingly asks Pato to create a new chef to replace the missing Sanji, only Pato states he can't create things likewise complicated, similar human beings. The group continue into Alubarna where they find and defeat Crocodile at the very top. Crocodile comments on the growing intensity of battles since Whitebeard'southward death before disappearing in a puff of fume.

Luffy clashes with Rob Lucci.

Back at the inn, the group hash out their adjacent movement when they hear the sound of the Bounding main Train. They realize the sound came from the adjacent island, which they recognize every bit Enies Lobby. Upon arrival, Rob Lucci shows up, explaining that he knows where Robin is and will use this second opportunity to kill her. The group continue to the roof of the Courthouse of Justice, and then to the top of the Tower of Justice to defeat Lucci exactly where Luffy did ii years ago. On defeat, Lucci announces that his powers were given to him by a certain man, and that man prevented Lucci from leaving the isle. He disappears in a puff of smoke, leaving behind simply a leaf. Through this, they deduce Pato is the source of these enemies and is the reason why the Straw Hats accept been disappearing. They also manage to find the residuum of the Straw Hats.

Back at the inn, Pato lets skid that his Boss is responsible for the kidnappings just cannot disclose the motives. However, he agrees to take them to his Boss to discover out themselves. He shows remorse at deceiving the Harbinger Hats, but explains it was his Boss' volition which he willfully carries out without question.

Creating a copy of his subordinate, Scarlet dismisses Pato.

The group next find themselves on Fish-Man Island, where they are ambushed by a overdosed Hody Jones, who claims divine intervention as the reason behind his chance at revenge. Pato restates he tin't create complicated things like Hody, but his Dominate could and they will merely listen to his Boss. After making their way through Mermaid Cove and Gyoverly Hills, they run into and defeat Hody in the Gyoncorde Plaza. Ruby then appears for the first time, whom Pato announces every bit his Boss, and effortlessly destroys the Hody re-create. Robin and Brook annotate on his past notoriety. Cherry reveals he created the environs and enemies from the Straw Hats' hearts in order to attain his goal of becoming the Pirate Male monarch. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji assail in response, just Ruddy effortlessly knocks them and the other Harbinger Hats away. He almost finishes them off but Pato begs him not to impale them. In response, Ruddy uses Pato's powers to create a copy of Pato himself, discarding the original, saying he doesn't want him to walk a path of carnage that he doesn't want to walk. As he'south about to leave, Zoro challenges him once again, so he instead creates a copy of Whitebeard to fight in his stead, just they narrowly defeat him. Pato is at a loss of what to do now that his boss no longer wants him, but Luffy asks what he himself wants to do. He follows them back to Transtown in the concurrently.

Sanji and Luffy use Hell Memories: Gomu Shot.

Chopper suggests Pato joins the Straw Hats; Luffy says that'southward for him to decide. Feeling that the adjacent isle Red creates is chilly; they soon dock at the Sakura Kingdom on Pulsate Island. Upon witnessing Hiriluk'south sakura cannons go out, the Straw Hats investigate to detect Wapol responsible (whom no-one seems to retrieve). He is easily defeated, but flees. Later Sanji and Luffy defeat some familiar enemies, they melt an avalanche caused by Wapol with a combination technique. At the top of his castle, as they prepare to battle Wapol again, Blackbeard appears. Wapol attempts to run away from him again, but Chopper enters his Monster Point and knocks him away. Blackbeard believes it was destiny that Ace died while Luffy lived and challenges him and his coiffure to a battle, simply loses. The crew notice Red, having watched the entire fight from the distance, earlier disappearing. Pato asks to join Luffy's crew, withal wanting to serve his Boss simply satisfied that his copy is doing so in his place, but Luffy rejects him. Although well-nigh of the coiffure are confused, Chopper reassures him. He asks the significant behind his name, merely he doesn't know, proverb Crimson gave him the name. Chopper shares the origin of his proper noun.

Red departs with "Robin" and "Pato".

At the Inn, Pato reveals Red is after a certain Devil Fruit, hoping to prove useful to Luffy. The crew and so decide to endeavor and intercept Red before he finds information technology. They find themselves in Skypiea, where upon reaching Upper Yard they encounter Enel, still wanting to reach Fairy Vearth. Robin explains to Pato that although Enel is fake, they volition yet fight him because his captain wills it and asks Pato if he desire this. The crew encounter Enel by the Golden Belfry in Shandora and he immediately uses 200,000,000 Volt Amaru to fight them, but is defeated the same way he was 2 years ago. Before they can celebrate, Carmine stands before them; he asks Robin to help him discover his fruit. Insulted, Sanji attacks, merely is knocked abroad by Robin'southward gigantic hand. Shocked, they notice a Robin copy by Reddish'south side, who leaves with him.

The ii brothers square off.

The Straw hats feel they need to search harder now that Carmine has Robin by her side. Nobody except Luffy recognizes it because it was the island Luffy grew up on. After reminiscing near start meeting Ace, they arrive at a tree stump with three cups of sake on it where Ace appears. Before engaging him, Luffy demands his crew to stand down and fights him 1-on-ane and Luffy wins. Confused, Pato asks why Luffy fights then difficult against someone then important, which Nami explains that it'due south considering he'south so of import to Luffy. Sanji asks Pato how it feels to be replaced but he retaliates, proverb he has no correct to talk most Ruby like that, which Luffy agrees. Upon leaving, Chopper invites Pato to follow. Ace then disappears in flames different in smoke like the other copies.

Sanji deflects one of Kizaru'southward laser kicks.

At Transtown, Pato is withal unsure of himself; Zoro tells him to stop thinking so much and trust his gut from time to time. The sound of firing artillery leads them to the next island, the frozen battlefield of Marineford, with Admiral Akainu waiting at the end. Remembering his office in the state of war 2 years agone, Luffy rushes alee. He's intercepted by Jinbe, but is quickly defeated and rushes ahead. Admiral Kizaru gets in their way and fights the coiffure, just halfway through the fight the coiffure tell Luffy to go ahead while the rest of them deal with Kizaru. He makes it past Akainu's Meteor Volcano and some Pacifistas and makes it to Akainu, who insults Luffy by implying his crew won't witness his death. Meanwhile the Straw Hats announced to be getting grossly overpowered by Kizaru, and Akainu launches some other Shooting star Volcano in their direction to ensure their defeat.

Ace and Luffy fight as one.

Enraged, Luffy dashes for Akainu but is frozen in identify by Admiral Aokiji. Pato tries to complimentary Luffy merely is knocked away past Akainu. Correct before Luffy is frozen entirely and impaled by an ice spear, the Ace re-create appears suddenly and destroys the spear. He engages Aokiji alone and defeats him earlier freeing Luffy. The Straw Hats also appear, miraculously overcoming their fight with Kizaru. Wounded, Aokiji uses his powers to create a battleground for Akainu and the ii brothers. Pato wonders how Ace is able to act on his own, which Robin believes is due to their bond they showed during their previous fight. Using their corresponding Burn Fists, the brothers emerge victorious. Ace finally disappears, this fourth dimension leaving a leaf behind. Pato decides he'll try his hardest for Luffy like Ace did, which Luffy encourages.

When they return to the inn, Yadoya tells the group that big bats have been inexplicably appearing in the town at night; she will go to the plaza to investigate. Pato believes Red is responsible, so he wants to use the opportunity to testify his one-time boss his true feelings. His senses are founded when they see Red atop a bell belfry to a higher place the plaza. He attacks the group with a multitude of copies of familiar faces, including the Straw Hats themselves. Undeterred, the real Straw Hats plow through the enemies to allow Pato to reach Red. Pato explains that he and his copy are not the aforementioned; it must be him who helps Red reach his goals as an ally, not a tool. Red states that being the Pirate King requires a certain amount of resolve. Surpassing the great names of the past requires abandoning various personality traits he considers weak, including his companionship with Pato.

Proving his resultant success, he holds a Devil Fruit in his hand: the Batto Batto no Mi, Model: Vampire, which he promptly consumes. Challenge to have abased his terminal weakness, his humanity, he kicks Pato abroad into a edifice. Angry, Luffy retaliates but Cherry-red dodges. He appears on the square, holding an unconscious Yadoya. The crew tin only watch in stupor as Ruby bites her neck before dropping her unconscious, anile trunk on the ground. He stands over her, transformed into a younger, vampiric form. He explains that he stole her youth to regain his lost power. The crew effort to fight him, only when he is most to lose he regains all his lost forcefulness. He explains that with the likes of Roger and Newgate around, he gave upwardly his ambition and quietly served his judgement at Impel Downwardly, simply with them gone or succumbing to their age, he'll exit the aforementioned mark they did, using the immortality granted by his Devil Fruit to go the Pirate King.

Fifty-fifty in his severely aged body, Luffy continues to show his resolve.

Luffy refutes this, challenge historic period doesn't define power, using Whitebeard equally an case. When Cerise uses the at present-retired Sengoku and Garp to evidence his point, Luffy demands he shows him what he really means. Cerise complies, using his powers to severely age Luffy, whitening his pilus and making his body frail and weak and proceeds to beat Luffy down. Ruby claims his condition proves his point, merely Luffy over again talks about Whitebeard'south undying will and ambition until his death, and also mentions Rayleigh. Despite his status, he catches a dial from Red. He talks about the one thing he has in mutual with the elder pirates: their unwillingness to requite upwards. He overpowers Red and punches him into a edifice. He says Cherry-red has no correct to steal the dreams of others when he so easily gives up his own. Pato suddenly speaks upwards and defends his Boss, maxim he does what he does for fear of dying a shadow of his erstwhile cocky. Finally seeing Luffy's bespeak, he gain to return Luffy's youth. He tells Luffy he gave up his dreams for fear of having to entrust them to others in his age, which is why he looked for a fashion to remain young through the Devil Fruit. Reformed, he returns Yadoya's youth and vows to become the Pirate Rex with his ain power, and Pato returns to his side to help him realize his dreams. Happy, Luffy grabs his copy's helm's glaze and accepts one last challenge against Red and Pato.

Cherry-red is finally defeated.

After a long battle, the Harbinger Hats emerge victorious. Content, Red concedes. Pato promises to challenge them again in the future for the sake of his Boss, and anybody cheerfully accepts. Brook, in particular, remembers an interesting fact near him: during his time every bit a pirate, Carmine, whose total name is Patrick Redfield, was as well known every bit "Pato" for short. The fact that he gave his own name to his companion may have implied that he never meant to abandon him at all. Blood-red, who recognizes Brook, jokingly mentions how different he looks afterwards fifty years. After Luffy and Red claiming each other one final fourth dimension, the crew set sail.

In a post-credits cutscene, Pato tearfully claims he will get stronger for Cherry-red. Remembering the likes of Whitebeard and Roger, he tells Pato that their dream begins now.
